Do you have smart bulbs in your home and don't always want to rely on app control? For example, when your phone is charging or when there are family members who do not use the Smart me app? Then use a Zigbee switch!

What is a Zigbee switch?

A Zigbee switch is a wireless switch that you use in your home to manually control smart lighting, for example. With one switch you control up to 6 different scenarios that you have programmed for your lighting or smart plugs in the app.

A Zigbee switch communicates via a Zigbee gateway and an app with other smart home products.

How does a Zigbee switch work?

You always use a Zigbee switch in combination with a Zigbee gateway. You can connect up to 128 other Zigbee products to one Zigbee gateway. You register the Zigbee gateway in the Smart me app, and then you link 1 or more Zigbee products (switches/sensors/repeaters) to it.

Can I use a Zigbee switch to control a Marmitek smart bulb?

Yes, with Zigbee switches you can easily control all our smart bulbs and smart plugs. Use a Zigbee switch, for example, to trigger a smart bulb. This means that with one push of a button you turn all smart bulbs on or off, with 2 pushes of the button you dim all smart bulbs  and if you hold down the button you turn all electronic equipment (connected to a smart plug) on or off. You can easily control all of this in the Smart me app.

Our Zigbee switches can be used with all our smart bulbs and  smart plugs (which work on the Wi-Fi protocol). You always need a Zigbee gateway.

When do I need a gateway exactly?

We have Zigbee and Wi-Fii smart home products in our range. For Zigbee products you always need a Zigbee gateway. The Wi-Fi products do not need a gateway. If you use a Zigbee product to control a Wi-Fi product (e.g. smart bulb) then you do need a gateway.

Example situations

  • Wi-Fi bulb / Wi-Fi sensor / Wi-Fi plug / Wi-Fi camera / Wi-Fi doorbell => Zigbee gateway not needed
  • Wi-Fi bulb + Wi-Fi sensor => Zigbee gateway not needed
  • Wi-Fi plug + Wi-Fi sensor => Zigbee gateway not needed
  • Wi-Fi bulb + Zigbee switch or Zigbee sensor => Zigbee gateway needed
  • Wi-Fi plug + Zigbee switch / Zigbee sensor => Zigbee gateway needed
  • Zigbee switch / Zigbee sensor / Zigbee repeater => Zigbee gateway needed

Do the Zigbee switches also work with Philips Hue lamps?

It is possible to link your Philips Hue lamps to our Zigbee switches and add them in the Smart me app. Make sure the Hue lamps are reset and disconnected from the Hue Bridge before installing in the Smart me app. You reset the Hue lamps via the Hue Bridge or dimmer switch. To control a Philips Hue lamp with a Zigbee switch, you always need a Link ME (Zigbee gateway).

Do the Zigbee switches also work with Ikea TRÅDFRI lamps?

It is possible to link your Ikea Tradfri lamps to our Zigbee switches and add them in the Smart me app. Make sure the Tradfri lamps are reset before installing in the Smart me app. You reset the Ikea TRÅDFRI lamps by turning a lamp on/off 6 times. To control an Ikea Tradfri lamp with a Zigbee switch, you always need a Link ME (Zigbee gateway).

NOTE: Only the Philips Hue lamps and Ikea Tradfri lamps can be added in the Smart me app. For Philips Hue/Ikea Tradfri dimmers and switches this is not possible.

Can I add a Marmitek Zigbee switch in apps from other smart home providers (e.g. LSC/Action & Lidl)?

Our Smart me app uses Tuya technology. So you can also easily install our smart home products in other apps that use Tuya technology. This can of course also be the other way around. Third party products, which are marked with the Tuya logo, can also be installed in the Smart me app.
