Product description

Receive audio from a smartphone on your hi-fi system or stream TV audio to your Bluetooth headphones

  • In receiver mode (RX), stream your CD-quality music from your smartphone, PC or tablet to your audio system.
  • Suitable for all Bluetooth enabled sound sources such as iPhone, Android phone, iPad, etc.
  • Listen to high quality audio via aptX, AAC and digital audio connections.
  • In transmitter mode (TX), stream your wireless audio from your TV to your Bluetooth headphones.
  • AptX Low Latency enables lag-free TV watching/gaming.
  • Possibility to connect 2 Bluetooth headphones simultaneously.
  • Can always be used in combination with your existing or new devices, both via analogue and digital audio inputs and outputs.
  • Stream HD audio to your audio system or headphones via Bluetooth
  • Stream audio from your TV or smartphone to your headphones or audio system.

The BoomBoom 100 is a Bluetooth audio transmitter (sender) and receiver in one.

In receiver mode (RX), it enables you to stream CD-quality music from your smartphone, PC or tablet to your audio system, while in transmitter mode (TX), it wirelessly streams audio from, for example, your TV to your Bluetooth headphones. If you want to switch from receiver (RX) to transmitter (TX) mode, just flick a switch on the BoomBoom 100.

The BoomBoom 100 has both analogue and digital connections and supports aptX, aptX Low Latency and AAC. If your smartphone or tablet also features aptX (Android) or AAC (iOS), it will enable wireless streaming in CD-quality (RX).

To take advantage of aptX Low Latency while streaming audio from your TV to Bluetooth headphones (TX), the latter must also be equipped with aptX Low Latency.
You may use, for example, the BoomBoom 577 for this. Lip sync issues will only be avoided if both the transmitter and receiver are equipped with aptX Low Latency. This means there will be no noticeable lag between the image seen on TV and the accompanying audio.

The BoomBoom 100 has the great additional feature of being able to transmit the sound from, for example, your TV to two headsets simultaneously.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I use the BoomBoom 100 to transmit and receive at the same time?

No, you cannot use the BoomBoom 100 to transmit and receive at the same time. On the BoomBoom 100 is a handy switch with which you can easily switch to TX or RX mode.

Does the BoomBoom 100 have aptX Low Latency?

Yes, the BoomBoom 100 has aptX Low Latency. Only if both the transmitter and receiver have aptX Low Latency® lip sync problems will be prevented. This means that you do not see any noticeable difference between the image you see on TV and the sound that goes with it.

The BoomBoom 100 is connected, but does not switch on.

      Make sure that the:
      • Power supply is provided with the supplied USB cable.
      • RX or TX mode is switched on.

My Bluetooth headphones are connected, but I do not hear any audio.

      Please, ensure that
      • Your audio source (TV or computer) is connected to the BoomBoom 100's audio input.
      • The multifunctional switch is in the correct position (AUX or OPT).
      • Your source is playing music and the volume is set to 'high'.
      • The volume on your headphones is set correctly.
      • Nothing is connectedto the aux input, if you are using an optical connection.

My smartphone is connected to the BoomBoom 100, but I do not hear any music through my audio system.

      Please, ensure that :
      • Your audio system's audio input is properly connected to the BoomBoom 100's audio output and the TX/RX switch is in RX mode.
      • The multifunctional switch is in the correct position (AUX or OPT).
      • The volume of your smartphone and the app you are using are set correctly.
      • Nothing is connected to the aux input, if you are using an optical connection.

I cannot connect the BoomBoom 100 to my Bluetooth device.

Please ensure that the TX/RX switch is in the correct position.
      • TX mode: the BoomBoom 100 can only connect to receiving Bluetooth devices such as a pair of headphones, speaker or Bluetooth receiver
      • RX mode: the BoomBoom 100 can only connect to transmitting Bluetooth devices such as a pair of smartphone, tablet or computer.

      Audio has a delay (latency).

Bluetooth is a digital wireless signal and you can expect some delay due to, for example, the required encryption/decoding and compression/decompression steps. The aptX and aptX Low Latency audio codecs supported by the BoomBoom 100 ensure a much smaller delay compared to regular Bluetooth audio. AptX Low Latency is not even noticeable (<40ms). Use the BoomBoom 100 with a pair of headphones that supports aptX or aptX Low Latency such as the BoomBoom 577. Some modern TVs and receivers also have an audio delay option. To minimise delay, please ensure that the audio delay is set to 0.

Poor audio quality and/or audio stutter.

To achieve the most low-noise audio possible, set the volume on your audio source to the highest possible level. Then adjust the volume to the desired level on your headphones. Please ensure that you are within range of your Bluetooth device. Bluetooth devices are susceptible to interference from other Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, routers, microwaves and wireless devices operating on the 2.4 GHz band. Please eliminate as many potential sources of interference as possible while using your Bluetooth headphones/speakers.

      Low volume level.

In TX mode: check the volume on both your Bluetooth headphones and your TV, as both may be able to adjust the volume. In RX mode: check the volume of your smartphone and the app you are using. Also check the volume of your audio system

I connected my BoomBoom 100 to the headphone jack of the TV and use my TV's USB port to power the BoomBoom 100, but I hear a ‘buzz’ in the audio.

Please use a USB adapter to power the BoomBoom 100, or use your TV&'ss Toslink connector. In your TV's settings, please ensure that Toslink is set to PCM Stereo.

      What is SBC?

SBC (Low Complexity Subband Coding) enables you to wirelessly listen to audio with reasonable sound quality. SBC is the standard method to send audio via Bluetooth.

      What is aptX?

This audio compression solution retains the full integrity of original digital audio and is optimised for instant real-time audio streaming. The suite of algorithms has earned a reputation for some of the highest audio quality, extremely low latency and strong resilience to bit errors, and has been proven in wireless, broadcast and professional live performance applications. The best result is achieved when playing lossless audio files (eg FLAC). Using MP3, you get the best results if the Bitrate is 256kbps or higher.

      What is aptX Low Latency?

AptX Low Latency ensures a very short audio delay of less than 40 ms. With a regular Bluetooth connection, this is more than 100 ms. Both the transmitter and the receiver must have aptX Low Latency to be able to use this feature. With the BoomBoom 55 and 77, the LED lights up green to indicate an aptX Low Latency connection.

      What AAC?

AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) - AAC is supported by iOS devices. Apple implements AAC via Bluetooth at about 250 kbps.
