Two modes, one idea
Technically, the BoomBoom 100 stands out because of its dual function. In receiver mode, also known as RX, the device acts as a Bluetooth receiver. Audio from a smartphone, tablet or PC is received wirelessly and sent to an amplifier or speaker set via an analogue or digital output.
In transmitter mode, also known as TX, the process works the other way around. The audio signal from, for example, a television is fed in via an analogue or optical connection and then transmitted via Bluetooth to one or two headphones. Switching between these modes is done with a physical switch, ensuring clear and stable operation.
Attention to audio technology
Codecs play an important role in wireless audio transmission. The BoomBoom 100 supports aptX, aptX Low Latency and AAC, among others. These codecs determine how audio is compressed and transmitted, and have a direct effect on sound quality and latency.
AAC is mainly used by iOS devices and provides efficient transmission while preserving detail. aptX focuses on higher audio quality with compatible Android devices. For use with television or gaming, aptX Low Latency is particularly relevant, because this codec is specifically designed to keep the delay between picture and sound as low as possible. For the best result, the Bluetooth headphones must also support this technology.
Multiple listeners, one source
A technically interesting feature of the BoomBoom 100 is the ability to connect two Bluetooth headphones at the same time in transmitter mode. This is especially practical when watching TV, for example when two people want to watch together without disturbing the surrounding environment. The audio is streamed to both headphones simultaneously, without additional settings.
